Strategy / Branding / Apparel Graphics

Our goal was to create a new brand identity and uniforms for Hollywood High Soccer that will align with its mission to be a premier high school team in the USA. Through the strategy sessions we discovered that HHS core values were - inclusive family, collective accountability, and impressive courage. The new head coach, Elliott Johnson, wanted to restore an iconic institution and create a family forged through hard work and accountability. It was important for him to develop an impressive program that inspires and creates transformation for the student athletes, both on and off the pitch.

To everyone at Hollywood High that was a part of this - muchas gracias.

During the strategy sessions, Head Coach Elliott Johnson wanted the brand identity to reflect Hollywood High’s iconic environment through the lens of its present day students. The star represents the spotlight flash of classic Hollywood. It has 12 points that represent the 11 players plus the 1 community that supports and encourages the student athletes through their formidable high school years. Subtly in the background is the star of Lamat which represents the Mesoamerican heritage of the players. This star naturally had a quadrant composition which represents completing the 4 years of high school. This program’s iultimate goal is to walk the red carpet at the Hollywood Bowl for graduation.

The colors were inspired by the current red and white that Hollywood High uses. I felt the need to add another neutral color that embodied their physical space. The school’s buildings are painted in a warmly soft and subtle beige that nicely compliments the strong reds.

The numbers were inspired by the font used for the HOLLYWOOD sign which is visible from the school. I added the linear language of 4 stripes representing the ultimate goal of completing all years of high school. The kits are currently in production. More photos and details coming soon!
