Nike Football has always been about speed and Neymar’s game is no different. As one of the most skilled footballers to have played the game, this motorsport inspired collection is detailed with graphics that hold a personal meaning for Neymar. Neymar’s love for speed was obvious, shown through his friendship with Lewis Hamilton, and admiration for Brazil’s legendary F1 driver Ayrton Senna.

Working closely with the Nike Global Football Footwear team, we agreed on a narrative for the collection and I kicked it off with a visual center that had new and classic Nike marks. The intention with the youth only apparel styles was to emulate the multitude of sponsors and graphics race drivers wear on their kit, car, and helmet.
The visual direction and placement of graphics was heavily informed by the cutlines of the garment. I wanted to compliment the interesting speed panels and cut lines that made the construction of these styles so special.
It was a pleasure working with apparel designer James Buford on this collection. We collaborated on creating interesting ways of displaying graphics through innovative choices of fabric, colors, and trim details. These can be seen through the tonal matte/shine NEYMAR crest, taping inspired by the car race’s finish line, and semi transparent fabric paneling that reveals football and racing’s iconic checkers.
I even got the unique opportunity to design some shin guard and other accessories that were a part of this collection.
